Diversity is usually thought of in terms of race and gender but diversity encompasses all possible differences that are contextually appropriate to your organization. You must look at all of your organizational units (board, staff, volunteers), all of your sources of advice and information, and even the distribution systems that deliver your services. In addition to those terms mentioned above, you must survey your organization in terms of age, physical ability, national origin, etc. Remember that there are protections associated with these characteristics; so most information comes from observing (and sometimes guessing) individuals rather than requiring them to reveal information about themselves.
